World Best Scientists in the list of AD Scientific Index 2021 Ranking
Dhaka University's (University of Dhaka) Former Professor Dr. Abdur Rashid has got a dignified place in the list of the world's best scientists of 2021 published by the internationally renowned organization AD Scientific Index. According to the report published by the organization, he won the first place in both Dhaka University and Bangladesh categories. Even in the Asia and global categories, this meritorious child of Gangni upazila of Meherpur ( a district of Bangladesh) has got the fourth and fifth place respectively.
Earlier, Dr. Abdur Rashid is a former Professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Dhaka University and former Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. He is currently the Advisor to the Department of Pharmacy in State University of Bangladesh (SUB).
He has already received congratulations from the SUB family and its board of trustees for gaining this prestigious position in the AD Scientific Index rankings.
The AD Scientific Index is based on the citations and other indexes of more than seven million scientists from 13,531 universities in 206 countries around the world. The list was later released on October 10.
Professor Abdur Rashid has been a long time lecturer and dean at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Dhaka University. In addition, he has been an advisor to the State University of Bangladesh since 2004. He has been the Advisor to the Department of Pharmacy of SUB since its inception.
He passed SSC from Gangni in 1985 and HSC from Meherpur Government College in 1986 and moved to Dhaka. He later studied at Dhaka University and taught there with dignity and respect until his retirement.
Expressing the feeling of getting a place in the list of top scientists Professor Abdur Rashid said, ‘There is a lot to be proud of our country. The country has come a long way. Our medicines are now being exported to most countries of the world. However, culturally we are lagging behind in scientific research. The global pandemic Coronavirus has made us wonder how important the need for scientific research is today.
‘So in addition to trying to achieve economic prosperity, we also need to focus on research’, he said.
Dr. Abdur Rashid said, “We are working to make SUB's pharmacy department one of the leading pharmaceutical research centers in the country. This is because the higher education activities of any university can never be completed without basic research. Research is essential to prepare the country for the future.”
He said, “Suffering never goes in vain. Similarly, research is never in vain. The new creation of research highlights the new knowledge.”
Addressing the students, the Teacher said, “Physicians, engineers, agriculturists, bureaucrats, police, whatever profession you are involved in, you should focus your education and mind on research. Because research thinking opens the door to every human mind.”
