One of the best scholarships in Cambridge University is the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was established in October 2000 through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge. It is the largest single grant to a UK university.

UK Scholarship for Bangladeshi Students

Gates Cambridge Scholarships are awarded annually to pursue a master's degree in any subject at the University of Cambridge. Students from countries outside the UK are given the opportunity to study under this scholarship. About two-thirds of these scholarships are awarded to PhD students. Selection criteria for the scholarship are outstanding intellectual ability, commitment to improving the lives of others and leadership potential. Bangladeshi students can also apply for this scholarship.

Benefits of Gates Cambridge Scholarship

• The total cost of study can be covered by this (Gates Cambridge) scholarship awarded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. 
• 20 thousand pounds will be paid as annual maintenance allowance. 
• Visa expenses will be borne by these scholarship students. 
• Scholarship students will receive one-time airfare for domestic travel in an economy class.
• Immigration health surcharge will be borne.
• Additional academic development funding of £500-2000 will be provided to attend conferences and other courses. However, the amount depends on the length of the course.
• Scholarship recipients will receive a family allowance of up to £11,604 for one child and £16,548 for two or more children. The scholarship will also cover any unforeseen inconvenience expenses of the scholarship students. 
• In addition, there is fieldwork allowance.
• Maternity or paternity fund is available for scholarship recipients.

Eligibility of Application

• All international students except UK nationals can apply.
• Applicants should have an excellent academic background. Must have good results or track record.
• The applicant must contact the supervisor and be accepted by the supervisor to continue his research.
• The applicant must pursue the course work as per his choice.
• This scholarship is available for PhD full-time and postgraduate courses.
