40 DU Students Got Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship

A total of 40 meritorious students from different academic years of Dhaka University (DU) got Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship of Japan. On Thursday these under-graduate students have been given at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed this scholarship among the recipients as chief guest.

Awardees of different years are: First year (Hons.)-  Matia Noor Raisa from the department of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology, Ahmed Adnan (IIT), Md. Redwanul Islam (Mathematics), Arifa Haq (Physics), Michael Sagar Sarker (Law), Md. Kamrul Hasan Rabby (Accounting & Information Systems), Mazharul Islam (Islamic Studies), Trisha Nandi (Accounting & Information Systems), Abdul Mohaimen (International Relations) and Apel Chandra (Psychology).

Second Year (Hons.)- Bushra Jahan (English), Rubaiya Islam (Law), Reshma Akter (Islamic History & Culture), Nuzhat Nueri Khan (Mathematics), Fazle Azam (Law), Salma Akter Jhuma (Accounting & Information Systems), Md. Touhidul Islam (Economics), Azfa Touhida Doibi (Disaster Science & Climate Resilience), Farhadi Anwar (Soil, Water & Environment), Most. Sifat-E-Sultana (IER).

Third year (Hons.)-  Rubiaat Hasan Sawon (Law), Mohaimanul Haque (Marketing), Md. Rakibul Islam  and Md. Chanchal Mahmud (International Business), Md. Sohanul Islam (Accounting & Information Systems), Mst. Fatiha Khatun (Organization Strategy & Leadership), Md. Ariful Islam (Leather Engineering & Technology), Bushra Rahman and  Tanjila  Akter (Soil, water and Environment ) and Sayma Alam (Nutrition and Food Science). 

Fourth year (Hons.)- Jannatul Ferdous (Finance), Md. Rasel Mia (Management  Information Systems), Khandakar Taki Md. Sadi (Soil, Water & Environment), Easif Ahmed (Disaster Science & Management), Md. Asiful Islam (Accounting & Information Systems), Sanjida Islam (Marketing), Kumari Rotna Rani (International Business), Mir Mohammad Mohoshin Kabir (Nuclear Engineering), Md. Abul Kalam Azad (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) and Nawara Mahmood Broti (Robotics & Mechatronics Engineering). 

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of DU Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal presided over the function. Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of Japanese Embassy, Dhaka Hiroyuki Yamaya and General Manager of the Sumitomo Corporation Shinichi Nagata addressed it as special guests. General Manager (Corporate Affairs) of the Corporation Mr. Md. Shofiullah declared the names of awardees. Dhaka University Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker conducted the program.  

Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the awardees for receiving this prestigious scholarship. He also thanked the authorities for providing scholarship to these meritorious students. He urged the students to prepare themselves as skilled human resources as well as worthy citizen of Bangladesh to make it a prosperous country. 

The Vice Chancellor said, a friendly long lasting relationship between Bangladesh and Japan has been prevailing. He recalled all-out support and cooperation of Japanese government for socio-economic development of Bangladesh. He hoped that these support and cooperation will be continued in the days to come.
